Colmans has always been my favourite fish and chips whenever I go to South Shields so couldn’t resist a visit in Fenwicks when I was in town. I wasn’t disappointed the food was delicious, service was excellent. It was my mams 75th birthday and they gave her a birthday card all signed by the staff and a complimentary prosecco. Made our visit extra special. Thank you.

We had a lovely fish and chip lunch at Colmans in Fenwick. Special offer: small fish and chips and hot drink £10. The food was so nice, large portions too. Light crispy batter on the fish. Hubby wanted mushy peas (very salty) and curry sauce (lovely) and of course a stottie. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Highly recommended. Will definitely go again soon.

Second time we've been to Colmans in Fenwicks. First time I had the cod & chips which was one of the best cods I've had. Perfect batter and melt in your mouth fish. Chips are not greasy, nice but not like your standard chip shop chips. Today I had the Geordie battered bangers with chips and curry sauce. Curry sauce was delicious poured over chips and bangers. You get 3 large battered sausages, they were very nice and filling, just about managed the last one. Decent portion. Plenty of curry sauce in a jug. Would be good idea if they did a Colmans platter as I struggle to choose what I want - small fish, 1 banger, spam hash brown and some chips. Heard a few elderly people asking for small portions but the portions are pretty decent. They do a small fish and chips with cup of tea from 3pm for £12. Not sure if that's every day. My current favourite place to eat in Fenwicks. Wish I could try the sticky toffee pudding but always too full... will have to go back again.

My mam and I went for the two/three course lunch special for £15/20. I had the battered Geordie bangers for starter - best battered sausage I may ever have tasted. Both of us then had the small fish and chips - good portion size; plenty of chips and a decent sized fish. Tartare sauce was the only one I've ever had and enjoyed. Shared sticky toffee pudding for dessert - also very nice. Staff excellent, nice atmosphere, food all quickly and nicely served. Will definitely be back.

We’ve been to the Coleman’s sites in South Shields many times, particularly the Seafood Temple site. However, the Fenwicks restaurant serves the same quality food. Perfect crispy batter and very tasty fish & chips. The Fenwicks site is perfect for those of us north of the tyne and a great stop before the visit to St James’ Park. I hope it continues. We usually make a reservation to guarantee a table.

Beautifully cooked fish in a light batter. Chips and mushy peas plentiful and tasty. Excellent service by pleasant and efficient staff. It was quiet when we visited which suited us. Slight criticism is that the background music was too much in the foreground’

It has the feeling of being on the coast but in Newcastle city centre. The fish buttie was delicious and so big I couldn't even finish it. My friend's fish and chips was more manageable and also delicious. It was really busy when we went in so I'd suggest booking. 10/10 Colmans!

A bright airy restaurant. We were greeted at the door by a pleasant young man and shown to a table. Josh was our server, he was polite, helpful and his service was faultless. We had the restaurant week menu which was delicious, nicely presented and freshly cooked. Definitely be going back again.

Colmans at Fenwick is a seaside daydream in the middle of the city! Crispy fish, cheeky sides, and proper Geordie charm. It's like a trip to the coast without leaving Newcastle. Don’t skip the mushy pea fritters. Seriously.

I have to say, the service, the food and the staff are outstanding here at Colmans in Fenwicks. They were more than accommodating for my wee mammy who needed a comfortable seat. The staff were amazing. There was also a gentleman, who I can only assume is the manager/owner who came over to make sure my mam was ok and make sure she was enjoying her experience. The food was delicious and plenty of it!! On the whole, if I could give 100 stars I would!! Definitely worth the impromptu visit and will be back again!!

Went to Colmans restaurant at Fenwicks on Good Friday. Customer service was lovely by staff, everything was clean and the fish & chips were exactly like visiting the actual restaurant in South Shields. Would recommend going for a treat.
